what sparked the change was her realizing her actions don't only reflect on her (which she was able to deal with either through venting in songs, self-awareness or self-deprecation), but fans that support her
she realized that fans share not only her successes, but also her failures and that if they're constantly feeling like playing defense, then the entire idea of fandom becomes unpleasant and makes it undesirable to become/remain a fan of hers
so she's trying to both make up for the unpleasant things in the past and make things feel better in the future, since despite everything said about her, she's not the type to turn back on her fans
