It's no different than watching a harem anime and fantasizing that you were the mc, or a woman reading a romance novel, or having a crush on a celebrity. As long as you don't think you're going to someday meet/seduce/date your oshi, it's fine.
It's really gay how some people are in denial about this. People who use "parasocial" as an insult. It's so blindingly obvious that 99% of vtubers are designed to be imaginary girlfriends/boyfriends, that if you disagree then you're just lying to yourself.
