Almost everyone is parasocial to certain degree, from being really into a vtuber or seeing them as a friend. It's not really a good or bad thing if it is in moderation.
The problem is when this parasocial behavior gets in the way of other things and especially when it has a negative effect into the content creator. From people demanding stuff from them or genuinely wishing death on other people or the streamer itself because they did X thing and they didn't like that. That's a few examples but it really can lean to negative things more often than not.

I watch a (democrat) news youtuber and, despite not ever mentioning or acknowledging vtubers, they have used the term parasocial quite a few times, to refer to fans of singers/social celebrities like Taylor Swift, streamers like Pokimane etc.
Point is, parasocialism isn't a Vtuber-watcher-only phenomenon, it's a side effect of how human interactions work in the Internet era. Many of the people calling Vtuber viewers parasocial are likely also parasocial themselves for a different person.
So there isn't anything wrong with it, so long as you respect your chuuba's boundaries you can continue liking them the way you do.

Parasocial interactions are inherently what this industry is built upon. I don’t just mean vtubing but streaming as a whole. It’s just bad when you get so attached that you basically set yourself up for being hurt.
That said, parasocial interactions are a two way street. Even some vtubers can recognize names in the chat or slowly fall for their chat as an entity.

Yes you are. You're hurting the ecosystem of the streamer. Nobody wants to see a thousand comments of people blowing their load as loudly as possible to someone just trying to make everyone laugh. It's even worse when you're not only blowing your load 24/7, but you're also imagining that the streamer would/should find you attractive enough to get romantically involved with you. And finally, what makes being parasocial the worst thing for a viewer to be: if the streamer ever has the world's smallest misstep, or gets doxxed, those "super fans" become the most potent antis. Their entire life become a nuke dedicated to ruining the streamers life. So, it makes perfect sense for a streamer to not want to create a fan base of nukes that will eventually kill them.

Of course since the word is kinda new, lots of things get labeled as parasocial and thus bad, and also since parasocial=bad, if you are parasocial (or do something seen as such) everything you say and do is also bad.

The power dynamic of a parasocial relationship is balanced in their favour and they reap monetary benefits from their lonely fans.
