Even most people who are "experienced stockholders" aren't good at deciphering quarterly earnings calls and so forth. It is as important to know the industry, as much as stocks in general.
For example, doing sales research at work, I will listen to the quarterly earnings calls from big players in our industry. Gives me info on what the memes are among their leadership, even if they aren't currently sales leads. Sometimes there are moments where I even disagree, based on what I see in our slice of the world. But if you had me listen to an earnings call from another industry? Aside from Business 101 stuff, I'm going to be pretty useless at gleaning real info.

So realistically for (you) you would just buy a largely diversified index like VT that captures the largest basket of stocks. Eventually holding Anykara and Cover. It is a gamble in the sense that you are betting Global Civilization won't end in the next 30 years.

Stocks on the other hand are like going to a casino. A company can have every thing you want to see and it just gets shorted into the ground vs some clown shitco that is drowning in debt that 10x in a week. The entire market is controlled by computers trading with computers and it has been then way since the 80s. No one can predict it, no one can time it, no one can beat it without cheating or stealing.

I don't see how they could set up a walled garden that might lead to decent enough margins that could remotely justify their current valuation.

A realistic question actually, Cover will probably point to the new studio and some of their better live offerings for examples.

They can probably point to expanding markets and the huge growth in sponsorships and con appearances. In addition, retention is important, and it helps give them a huge edge on the competition considering how many new (and failed) vtuber startups there's been over the last 2 years.

A) The majority of HoloID primarily speak English outside of collabs and have a large overseas audience. Their merch regularly sells out very quickly and they recently had to add extra meet and greet dates because demand was bigger than supply. B) Malaysia?

With the current twitch ad policy controversy and the constant drama they get into which causes numbers and sponsorship deals the fluctuate immensely, indies are not a stable investment. As for small corpos, they get into just as much drama, tend to be extremely poorly managed, and often fall apart - not to mention have lackluster viewership numbers if that's what you care about.

Nigga I don't know the first thing about the chuuba industry, I'm just spitballing.

To say anything remotely meaningful you'd need to know how big's the total market (outside of China, since that's haram to Holo), how much of a market share they have and compare it to their leading competitor Nijisanji.
On top of that, Cover's FS as I found them are based on Jap GAAP and unaudited, so basically papier toilette.

So long as we're having a brainlet-tier discussion, I'll limit myself to guessing that vtubing will remain a niche weeb hobby similar to anime and gacha games, meaning it will never reach global mass-market audiences.

I'll also guess that within Japan/Korea/Taiwan, anybody who would be remotely interested in the chuuba bandwagon has hopped it already, so I don't expect dramatic growth to come from east Asia.

So to sum it up no, I don't think milking gachi is enough, I don't see any big blue-ocean strategies for Cover to reach big untapped markets, and I don't see them cleaning up the competition.

My opinion is that their stock is overvalued and their earnings in the next 3-5 years will not remotely justify the current price. Cover Corp at 2,300 yen per share is bullshit.

One thing which was interesting for speculation was their Metaverse development.
It will fail because Japanese yes men and their saving face culture is incompatible with innovation, but could still make a good speculation bubble run if there is a metaverse hype bubble in the future.
