>>5111673The OP is literally bait, setting up strife between holomems and Cover.
The benefits Cover provides allowed many girls to piggy off an existing fanbase and attain successes beyond their wildest dreams (even though Gura was already arguably successful, she's much more so now). And they are very corporate-friendly so sponsorships, promotions and merchs keep flying in. The drawbacks are that to maintain that corporate-friendly image, you have to conform to their rules.
Clearly Coco found that stifling, and with her newfound fame, she can go full independent and do whatever. More power to her. But that's a situation unique to Coco. If she were to tell aspiring vtubers to start out as indies, it would not be advice but just reality for many. There are plenty of free and unknown indie vtubers out there. Gura seems to be in the other direction. Her past life was full of yab. But she prefers the life she now has, where she enjoys wider social acceptance, while keeping her stream full of innuendos. Different strokes for different folks.
