the 4080 is $1200 while the 4090 is $1600, but the 4090's more than 30% faster to justify the price difference, while the top end card in previous generations didn't have nearly that level of performance gap
if sticker price is a concern, then buying the cheaper card might be understandable, but if the full build's in the 3k+ range (and, as other anons have mentioned in this thread, it's not even her money that's being spent), it's silly to not spend the bit of extra for the power difference, especially for someone who'd be using it for work
buying a maingear is effectively paying a markup for the Shroud branding
also, it doesn't take much effort to get a better deal even if you don't want to assemble one yourself, this took about a minute to put together and has a better GPU, better case, better memory, better SSD, second HD, better PSU for the same price
