>>5263542Yeah, i'm tired too, but it was a fun talk. One last argument: I don't buy it. Instincts and purpose are different things. We still eat survive and reproduce, the thing is that those things not always make us feel fullfilled. We evolved past the need to just follow our instincts blindly, thats were meaning takes form. We eat because we are hungry; we survive because we fear death; we reproduce NOT because we want too, but because we are horny (if not, mating seasons wouldnt happen with castrated animals who cannot reproduce at all). If we could find nourishment throught different means, we probably would. If we knew for sure what happens after life, we probably wouldnt fear death as much. If we knew what comes with sex and could control it, we would. So far only the last item is checked, with modern contraceptives and such, we feel the pleasure without the reproduction.
Meaning comes along with all the advancements of human culture, such as art, philosophy, religion, politics, society as a whole. Without any of those things, i doubt we would ever think about meaning. Its much more "ethereal" than instincts dictating whe must reproduce. In short, reproducing can be a meaning for life, but the meaning of life per se is not reproducing
