>>52771666Like I played a bit of N64 Goldeneye on Xbone today and that was pretty fun, the port was terrible compared to the cancelled 360 version but it was still fun since it's still Goldeneye. Achievements are cool too since certain ones unlock "cheats" for extras like paintball/DK mode, and the higher difficulties actually seem to change the game up in meaningful ways. Halo MCC is also still plenty fun even now with an active multiplayer userbase, probably more than Infinite. Oh yeah, and Ion Fury is also good even on the Steam Deck, its like Duke Nukem 3D but cranked up a bit more in terms of difficulty and object interactivity. Dead Island 2 was also a pretty good 7/10 game, flawed but likable and was better than what you'd expect from a project in dev hell.
I can understand people enjoying games competively because I know Halo and Counter Strike had their scenes, but APEX and battle royales as a whole are probably one of the worst subgenres to come out. There's not a ton of fun in waiting to queue, waiting for the characters to be selected, waiting to fall somewhere on some fuckhuge empty map, praying that you can somehow find good loot in time, and hoping that you can somehow survive the first fight only to wait minutes until the next one even happens. It's like you have games like Battlefield or even Hunt Showdown, and suck out whatever fun you could even have from them.
