Boy bands do better, but even EXO - which makes a ton on merch and shit - only grosses ~$240 million/year, or $26 million per member.
That puts their entire multimedia empire collectively on par with what Kanye West earned to just show up on stage and perform in 2022.
I don't know why people assume idolshit is some kind of cash mill, there are exploitative elements from the child idol years, but at this point it's basically an incredibly niche culture pursuing the heights of something people like you don't understand and never will.
I still want idoru to go back to singing disco and kayakyoku though, modern J-rock/EDM musicians don't understand the point of a harmony so they just toss random girls in to sing over each-other and it sounds like dogshit - alternatively if you're going to hire dozens of women with funny voices to make weird moe noises and you aren't going to let them sing real denpa and stop hiring retards like DECO*27
