Furthermore, he did it for no particular reason. He had already given other valid excuses for why he wouldn't play it and could have just left it at that. But he needed to virtue signal. That's the kind of man he is. He either doesn't understand or doesn't care that his actual motives don't matter and that he just needs to keep his mouth shut and do his job. To put it plainly, it's perfectly fine for him to "support the cause" on his own time; It's not fine for him to do it in a way that can get tied back to the company.
