>>53444741>this mindset just doesn't exist for every chuuba, and can, IMHO, be changed on either endPeople with the gachikoi mindset are going to exist in the hobby no matter the efforts taken to dissuade it but I agree in principle, it also takes a certain level of talent and drive to be that aspirational "true idol" that Suisei is, not everyone has it.
>The subculture is too young to be making absolutes about anythingAlso true, but I was making an absolute about male behaviour rather than who hololive panders to, which could always change, has changed and arguably already is changing again in small ways. Whether they can garner the same level of devotion and monetary support if the culture changes again and male collabs become the norm remains to be seen.
Suisei may have filtered the no males in any capacity crowd, but if she had a legitimate relationship yab she would not be immune from the blowback.
>Everyone thought anime as a culture was set-in-stoneI don't think anybody thinks hololives culture is set in stone (and hololive seems to be what we are both talking about here) which is why people react so badly to things even appearing to change. If you don't think pandering to gachis/unicorns is a morally bad thing, why does this slice of a niche subculture even NEED to change? For what purpose?
