Following his usual cycle then 2-3. He usually does his shitposts until people accept it as the norm. Once people stop reacting to it for his amusement and just see it as normal soda he'll get bored and move on to something else. Soda is a freak, he goes all in on his dumb shit when he thinks its funny enough and he's been doing his evil laugh ever since he tried the avatar so he's highly amused. If the vtuber community started screaming and crying at him on reddit and twitter he'd probably never take it off.

If you watch his artists stream she has concepts for this going back 2-3 months, that's a lot of work for a simple $1000 commission that she has listed on her commissions page.

Just out of curiosity, is rigging essentially taking a 2D shape and extruding it to 3D so you can move it/make it seem 3D? Do you need multiple references to do all the different expressions, or is it animated manually?

When I first started using Live2D early last year, I watched Shamallful's Live2D tutorial guide on youtube, although I can't seem to find that video anymore.
I learned the basics making some simple animated models for the cutscenes in my game, but I had to learn a lot on the spot rigging SquChan and Soda's models

A live2D model is basically just a bunch of flat 2d layers distorted and skewed to move around to make it look 3D, for Soda's model, various parts are switched out at times, like when the eyes are closed, or the different arms switch in like holding the shovel

Not that anon, but pretty sure it is each part on different layers and then applying math to bend the image shape (lots of sliders on the L2D GUI). Like "squish the X-axis of the image of the iris by 50% when moving to this point on the right the closer it gets to it"
Just download the demo and try it out or look up a tutorial on youtube. I think it even comes with basic models, maybe those are even openable to edit and play around with

imagine two points on a line. eyes open and eyes closed. these are the furthest points. you basically make step by step changes so that it looks like its blinking. you edit the parts of the eye so that it looks like its closing. all the parts of the eye are separate, iris, whites of the eye, etc. so you have the two end points, and then in-between you have the eye in different states of closing or opening. imagine an animation timeline of an eye opening, but you can also reverse it.

I'm wondering about the software, looks like he can add live2D assets on the fly instead of having to reload his model. He has automatic expressions instead of manual, the face changes when he laughs or when we widens his eyes.

The model itself is fluid but it seemed like his lipsync was a bit rough. Like sometimes you can straight up read Mori's lips because it tracks so well but his just opens and closes.

Yeah the based riggers set up the proper lip sync stuff now that VtubeStudio has legit lip sync reading.
I just set up smiling, frowning, opening and closing the mouth, I haven't dabbled in the lip sync stuff yet

it's more than likely the fault of the software, there are comparisons between prprlive and vtube studio, vtube studio being better in most things, but not mouth movement. Hololive uses an in house software, but more than likely it's just the Iphone X tracking that makes mori's tracking even more crisp.

think of it like this, live2d is where you make the model and prpr/facerig/vtube studio are used interpret the movement of your camera source to properly be weighty/fluid, along with things like attaching other objects to your mother.
