Harmony Gold, the company that dubbed Macross into Robotech sued the tabletop game company FASA, because FASA purchased licenses from the original studio that designed the mecha for Macross to use mecha designs in their game BattleTech (the original tabletop miniatures game, not the video game from 2016) because they were just getting started and didn't want to commission a bunch of original designs for a product that they didn't know was going to go well.
Harmony Gold sued them over it, and spent about 25 years suing the shit out of everyone and anyone who has had anything to do with the Battletech license, and basically losing all of the cases for a quarter of a century.
So yeah, what would happen here? Cover could sue Mike, but they don't have much of a case since the design isn't an obvious "Rushia with the serial numbers filed off" despite the clear similarities.
