>>51223It's mostly luck or rather, perfect timing. Keep in mind when she debuted. She was and frankly still is the standout of HoloEN, and HoloLive was getting super popular at the time due to many, many things. At the nexus of staying home because of corona, rabbit hole memes, and the hard work and effort of HoloJP, EN comes out and provides an easy to understand and basically endless stream of content to people who want it, and Gura's basically its champion. Since then she has had massive success.
Naturally she wasn't comfortable with it. She doesn't really "deserve" it and everyone knows that, but the point of HoloLive is building something up so that everyone in the company can succeed (which is why, at least publicly, HoloJP is hugely supportive of Gura). Basically, "of course she succeeded, but it also makes sense that she tried to ignore her 1m milestone and was very uncomfortable with her popularity for several months".
