Both male and female talents were guilty of that, so the moment the talents start shipping themselves with each other or fans start their own crackships, obviously its not going to fly well with their whales.
We saw it come to a head very early on with the reactions to Vox x Reimu, Mysta x Mika, and Pomu x Luca. Evidently there are contingents of fans that aren't happy with financially supporting the talents, or even dedicating their time to them if it just means that they're going to date each other, while the viewer just is the awkward third wheel watching or being told what they do.
