>>54215693You "cope" by treating them as the disposable entertainment they are, instead of treating them as a substitute for actual relationships with real people, and stop thinking you have to apply the same "oh no I must 'keep up' with them or they'll be angry and disappointed with me"-logic to them. Especially if it's only making you more anxious than whatever happiness you receive from it. They are not your friends (>insert fauna.jpg), they don't care or know you exist (yes, even though "omg she said my name once!!" ...because you sent her money lmao), you are only pressuring yourself into a one-sided "relationship" for nothing in return.
Or at least that's how I see it, and what do I know, at least it keeps me from fretting about how to "keep up". Vtubers for me are just another form of entertainment, like tv shows used to be. I don't have imaginary "relationships" with them or feel any sense of obligation towards them, just like I don't have any obligation towards a tv show or whatever. When I have free time and the mood, I check the 'dex if anyone streams anything interesting, and if not, I do something else instead. I have a few vtubers I prefer watching, just because I vibe with their style and content, but I don't do "oshis" like how the term is often bandied about, the thought of getting overly emotionally invested to any of them is so alien to me and frankly ridiculous, or maybe I already have enough fulfilling real life relationships that I never felt the need to get attached to a virtual one.
