Yes but this is one of many e-sports collabs with hololive with more to come in their "Holizontal" gaming brand. Valo is very popular in Japan right now and they would be stupid not to do this.

yeah among vtuber fans, some of which may also have an interest in the competitive scene at large but the overlap isn't as big as some may think. how many of those viewers keep up with the game's actual tournaments? there's a large number of people who watch events like vsaikyo and CR cup but who don't actually follow apex or valorant's competitive scenes, some of them have never even touched the games but enjoy watching their favourite chuubas go through a training and tournament arc.
i'm not saying this is a bad thing by the way, events are more successful when they appeal to a larger audience and fans of chuubas are dedicated and love showing up to support their oshi.
