>>55008782>society as a whole is just becoming more mentally illThat depends entirely on how you define mental illness. If you don't think ancient people didn't experience PTSD from frequent raiding, raping, warfare as well as verious other conditions, then you're very naive about history. Yes, modern society has brought some new mental illnesses for sure, but who decides where the line is drawn? IMO most people have some sort of mental defect (as defined by "not ideal") to varying degrees. But instead of having a system for defining these varieties, we instead just default to "normal" and "autistic" (and a handful other shorthand diagnoses.)
That's what so stupid to me, because it just means that we end up creating this divide where "normal" people (who might be just as defective as anyone on the other end) are treated as totally healthy, when that's obviously not the case. We're all a little weird, and that's alright. The important part is finding out how it affects you, if it is an issue, and how you can deal with it.
>mental health illness is becoming more prominentMental health literally didn't exist as a concept for most of human history, never mind whether it was tracked at all. Psychosis could be celebrated as divine messages. We've been "crazy" since day 1, and we should just accept that.
>our generation being the very first one to have less sex than their parentsI mean, that's an entirely different topic, but I'll just say that I think culture is much more important here and tech only had a small part in it. While I'm 100% onboard with feminism, it has had certain side-effects that we're only now beginning to realize.
>pretty shocking negative societal health developments No, we've literally never been healthier as a species. The reason you hear so much about it now is that people in pre-history simply perished quietly instead of tweeting about it.
>Men's average testosterone level has dropped This is true but I don't know enough about the topic to comment. There may be a connection to some of the things we're talking about, but it's one one part of it. It's complicated.
>We are actually more ADHD than the last generation.I can get behind that. I just think we need to accept that it's normalized then. Humanity is a work in progress.
There's obviously much more to be said about this, but I do respect your opinion, even though I disagree with most of it.
