My parents were the same way with my fiance at first until she talked to them about it in a heart-to-heart because she felt like she was embarrassing them.
Maybe in the back of my parents minds, and her genmates minds, they think it's a little bothersome, but the great thing about having caring friends is you can open up to them and talk about your problems.

I've been doing 6 days at the gym a week for 1 to ~3 hours each day for about 9 months now
Still got like another 10kg to lose before I'm lean and mad sexy as fuck, but I'm def way more muscular then I was. Have had heaps of people say I no longer look fat, start conversations by talking about the gym or my muscles and a bunch of girls for whatever reason say I look like I'm also growing taller which is literally impossible, but I'm guessing theres some psychological female sexual illusion shit going on in their brains for that as I grow less ugly/more attractive

Someone wanted a book besides Of Mice and Men last thread but I didn't manage to reply to it before I left, can I recommend The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time? I was obsessed as a child ever since our year six teacher read it to us (and didn't read the cuss words) and the way Christopher explains everything in formulas and diagrams. It's a simple murder mystery about a neighbour's dog being found dead but without spoiling it, it always stuck with me. I had an ASD boy in the library the other day who wanted some books and his eyes widened when I gave him that one, he was so happy! I also traumatized a man last year by recommending one that had cannabalism in and then he became a regular, we love that! I'm going to make lunch, tidy the house and put on Shiorin's sleepover as a couple amigos here said it was going to be cozy...thank you!

I used to archive some streams years ago but completely forgot how the fuck to do it and ain't sure I got the software anymore, though I do have terabytes of storage left I bought specifically to archive streams
If anyone has a link to the current stream download software I could do it, though I will probably have to leave an hour after stream starts so can't ensure the software will download properly after I'm gone

Just letting you anons know that getting strong enough to bridalcarry/piggyback a girl can be achieved in just 2-8 weeks with squats and deadlift sets of 5.
After 6 weeks I was strong enough to bridalcarry my 90kg friend(I've been bullied for being a skelly for 10 years, so I needed to get back at them), and it'a very easy goal to achieve.

The most logical goal to go for is being able to overhead press her. This is a great goal to work on for a while that is sure to make her question your autism.

Yeah, EN3 is looking great so far, very balanced. I'm glad. Shiori truly is the wildcard though. Nerissa and Bijou have very clear niches (music and gaming), and the dogs are very motivated with a strong gimmick.
So far Shiori has creative streams, zatsu, light GFE and strong technical skills. I think she'll be extremely powerful once 3D hits, but like she said, educational stuff takes time to make so she's going to have to mix in some gaming streams. The question is how she handles those. I hope she'll play stuff she's comfortable with so she doesn't get frustrated by the inevitable backseaters and has a chance to talk with chat in the meantime. Most of us are here for her. I don't care if it's tetris or pong.
I'll support her no matter what happens.

She was probably forced to read it for school or by her parents. Like Shiori, I was forced to read The Scarlet Letter in high school and I absolutely hated it and still sort of resent it for sucking the joy of literature out of me during highschool and college. I plan on returning it it as an adult to see if it's still worth reading. Maybe if she returned to The Heart of Darkness without the pressure of a grade or her parents approval, she'd be more willing to appreciate it.

Houllebecq has this amazing autobiographical book-length essay on the man showing how much of a loser he was and yet how, for all the failures of his own life, he was able to manifest this singular body of work that has influenced so much of horror fiction since. It's both a cautionary tale and yet also strangely inspiring. He was somehow even able to luck into getting a wife at 31 despite being a social catastrophe, though they divorced later due to financial issues (he was basically unemployed and mooching off his wife, and when she lost her job it all came crashing down). If Lovecraft was born in this era he would totally be a Novellite.

Not saying it's a good or bad thing, but just that it's a conscious choice. At the time many literary writers were choosing to embrace the chaos, creating your Modernist literary avant-garde. Yet Lovecraft chose the opposite path, a conscious return to an antiquated style. Not really. Like you can't look at TS Eliot and Ezra Pound and Yeats (though maybe he's more of a proto-Modernist) and call them commies. In fact a lot of the Modernist avant-garde were reactionaries that aimed to express their disgust at the Modern in various ways, or to try and manifest something new out of the wreck which isn't necessarily communism. Gaming streams can be fun, because it allows the audience to feel like they overcame a challenge along with the streamer. Gaming skill doesn't matter that much, as long as they're not completely incapable. It's about the journey. I can respect that you don't like them though.
Zatsu are of course great, but having only that for months on end would probably be difficult to maintain. Another advantage of games is that they provide the streamer with some context clues to drive the conversation.
As for male collabs, I just don't enjoy them. I have no conception of "being cucked" or whatever, but I'm here for cute girls and that's just that. If she does, I just won't tune in and hope it won't seep into other streams.

Just for the record, I've been part of many of those polite discussion the last few days, but I'm firmly against male collabs. I'm not really interested in having a debate about it, but just let it be known that not only childish or insane people would prefer no male collabs. It's not about hating men or "being cucked". For some people it's more about the atmosphere, the novelty of gender-segregated entertainment, and in Shiori's case, a bit of GFE. I understand and respect that you may not care about these things of course, and if male collabs do happen I'll simply not watch. If they're frequent enough, I may leave permanently, but with no hard feelings involved save disappointment.
I just wish people (not you in particular, just in general) could accept that people have different and legitimate opinions about these matters. Until we know Shiori's actual stance on this, we're going to be sharing the same community after all.

I couldn't really get into Modern Poetry either until I looked at it from a different perspective than some stuffy lit shit. Like think of a modernist poem as watching a monologue delivered in a play that you have no context of, and you have to guess what is going on from context cues, literary references, and biographical details. Understanding the poem becomes like a puzzle, or even a mystery! You gather clues, fit together a solution, and attempt to 'solve' the mystery of the poem. The only difference is there is no final detective speech where it's all revealed, and you have to accept that your solution is one out of possibly a multitude (but not an infinite) number of solutions. But think of poetry or literary writing in that vein and forget all the bullshit Literature teachers love to tell you about beauty or wisdom or culture or whatever else- instead, it's all fun little mysteries that you unravel at your own pleasure.

I never think about that. The nice think of read classics, The Greeks for example, its that you understand the theme of the drama on the first paragraph (event on the first chorus), and then become an analysis of the theme and variations, like a mass explaining an idea.
I guess modern books play on being "unclear and chaotic", I can use that.

That is honestly a lot easier to deal with than the offline alternatives, but there are a bunch of us in jobs where we're assumed to either be beautiful and stupid or ugly and knowledgeable. I think this is one of the things I enjoy about vtubers and their immersion because it's nice to goof about and share interests. If it's easier to be assumed trans or a man that's pretty mild compared to said offline alternatives. These threads are really nice to read over breaks, honestly (that and finally having a book club general that like goth gfs and autismo girls is pleasant)

And no it's not that it stinks but gets me horny. The smell of their shampoo usually got me horny, because it smelled nice and like fruit.

No, no, it's nice you can get this off your chest here even if it was really hard to say that to your exes. I am personally picky with perfumes and dislike florals but darker ones that are subtle or have sweet notes are the best, or bath creams which are mild but let you smell slightly clean, but there's nothing worse than a group of women or men walking past and you're gagging on the stuff, that's overkill. I was about to ask if you're a shampoo scent admirer instead, because I get way happier when people point out that my hair smells nice or I hug a friend and the shampoo scent is there. There is actually body mist that replicates that shampoo scent, I'm basic and use Aussie's conditioning mist over my hair and skin and it's sweet but not really strong. I just know a lot about perfumes because, and I'm an allergyfag, so most strong perfumes or men's colognes make me blotchy anyway. You aren't alone! Little is more~ but the pretty bottles are something I can imagine Shiori liking. Kenzo World Power is a literal eye~

Yeah, I really like that vtubing allows people to transcend their physical appearance when that might have been a hindrance to them in real life. That's not to say that everyone is an uggo, but the point is that they're filtered for entertainment quality and not just genetics or make-up. (Of course, model quality does impact things but that can be fixed.)
In general I feel like it's a bit sad that appearances matter so much for initial attraction. In my experience, you can easily pass over someone wonderful just because they didn't catch your eye, and then later, once you get to know them by happenstance, you grow to enjoy their appearance. It's weird how that works. (And for people who haven't experienced it themselves, it sounds like pure copium.) I've ignored girls before and then fallen in love much, much later.
Either way, I don't doubt that there are women here. It's just hard to tell.

Absolutely. Vtubing looks so fun and it brings people together, even here anonymously and the shitposting is fun, too. I just work somewhere where my knowledge and appearance both get judged simultaneously because the majority of men who come in here are older, but the men who are younger than maybe fifty tend to be a lot sweeter (and often just want a corner to study in or some reference stuff)

The beauty in people once you know them is so special, like I'm sure some of the people I have met might not be conventionally attractive to some but listening to them sperg for three hours about their special interest makes them ten times cuter to me so I totally feel the same as you. It's probably very hard to truly tell what everyone is like behind the trips. But we're here for books, vtubing and generally the same discussions and I like that.

Yeah, thinking about it, it's really always the 'fancy aesthetique' stuff that ends up being silly or too much and that I feel like girls get tricked with spending too much on.

I'm reminded of one time when my ex got some fancy makeup that used non-traditional and noticeable colors and asked me what I thought. A small part of me did recognize she looked a bit goofy objectively, but honestly, I was head over heels for her so I really wasn't yes manning when I said I thought she looked good. It gave off a bit of a bad girl Harley Quinn vibe but this was like... wayyyy before Suicide Squad came out. So it was like she had that aesthetic before that aesthetic was a thing. Bad girl clussy wasn't on the menu.

She was really happy about it until both her brother made fun of her pretty viciously and said she looked like a clown. Then she took it out on me because I 'lied' to her. I still feel kinda bad about it in retrospect, but weirdly not mostly because we got in a small fight about it, but at the time I was a little gaslit in the relationship so I actually felt guilty about it and how much her feelings got hurt by her brother.

That's just Rissa being a sweet. She's been very enthusiastic speaking with many of HoloEN just a few days after debut.

I'm getting there in the years, but I got by school a lot reading the online summaries like sparknotes. Sometimes if a book is genuinely engaging to me I will happily read it front to cover. Brave New World was like that for me.
