I would more see it as a complete physical rewrite rather than a mental one overall, sure, the person would have Lamy's overall personality and her common habits, (Heavy casual drinking, emotional pandering to others, etc.) but would still retain their memories of their past self, rather than having everything erased from the person's mind.
Think about it like this: How would someone actually manage to navigate their surroundings after becoming lamy if they cannot remember anything from their past life?
It doesn't overall make that much sense if the person just goes from (x) anon, and then becomes the smoking hot blue elf that is Lamy in her entirety, including her memories; The anon's mind, in my opinion, would retain everything that they have gone through in their life, as it's pretty necessary for them to even function as a whole, including the fact that said anon could possibly live in a foreign country before becoming Lamy.
What would happen if you just dropped Lamy in to a completely foreign country at random, do you really think that she would just be able to 100% know where everything local could imaginably be there, say drop her in the middle of the United States; There is absolutely no fucking way that she could navigate through the states/country to get back to japan if she was in that situation, and would probably be stuck for a good while trying to figure out how to get back.
There could be possibilities outside of just being completely overwritten entirely, but those are just my thoughts on it.
