I spoke to her a total of two times and some key giveaways were the perfume she'd wear and how her hair was done. She worked hard on her appearance for him and he was totally oblivious to it.
I can't really give the best advice here as ymmv but just know your partner then spot any differences. Does she smell nicer? Is she wearing something she normally doesn't? Comment on it, notice her efforts.
If it's more for first time meeting with girls then that's probably a lot harder, but focus on the sensory things, did she do her hair well? Did she dress to impress? etc.
