1) The main metric Youtube uses for everything with regards to "recommendation" is a proxy for "user satisfaction", an indicator that shows that people that get recommended that video really liked it
They measure it with a good proxy for that: "average view time". That's the time the users spend watching the video, in the average.

If people on average only watches 10 seconds, it might be a bad one unworthy of being recommended2) That brit dude showed that if you buy and ad targeting THE EXACT OPPOSITE AUDIENCE of the video being advertised you can KILL it's algo recommendation
To prove that he did just that, on one of his own videos, using a brand new google account, he bought an ad targeting people that HATE that type of video.
He went from tens of thousands of impression per hour to ALMOST ZERO immediately after a few hours after releasing the ad, showing that if a significant number of people drop by your video and bails immediately, it drops your "average view time" and kills it in the algo
3) There is no distinction for Youtube with regards to live streams and regular video uploads, once it becomes VOD, Youtube treats them the same.
That implies that, if you have a significant number of people (far superior to your regular audience) dropping by your video and bailing immediately (be it during the live stream or afterwards) it will drop your "average view time" and, hence, kill you in the algo
It just so happens that raids with poor retention works exactly like that, hence the hypothesis that a raid with poor retention will actually hurt your VOD down the road and, if you get many of those, it will hurt your channel as a whole
