There was never "rules" that the talents "broke".
There was no set "trust" for them to "betray".
They set up their expectations, with little to no evidence to back it, and when they were disappointed they threw hissy fits.
This is overwhelmingly true. In fact when Kronii ran into the issue she decided to actually set up rules but was probably advised not to know by people who actually know how unicorns work.
Because after she walked back the rules she wanted to follow, rules that they claimed were "good and fair", she still followed them almost completely and yet was still the number one target for harassment.
It just shows you that they don't care to compromise at all, they need complete control over everything.
