not OP but personally the ability to pause, rewind and watch at higher speeds is really nice, plus i never chat anyway so i'm not missing anything there

vods are the lowest form of media consumption. livestreaming is already a giant time sink for what it offers but it offers something unique in a live experience, vods remove the appealing aspect of livestreaming entirely while being generally less entertaining for your time than actual produced longform content videos the only reason to watch a vod over say even clips is if you have an unhealthy social attachment to watch every moment of a streamers existence.

That's called being sane, OP. What's insane is the notion that something you want to watch isn't worth being watched unless it's live. I can't be the fear of missing out because the VOD exists, so it has to be some aspect of it being live. At that point what are you even watching for? The chance for streamer to say your name? Interacting with chat and not the streamer? If you don't do chat interaction watching live is objectively inferior to watching the VOD as you can pause it whenever you need to so you don't miss any of it and you can rewind immediately to rewatch funny or interesting moments or moments you missed from lapses of concentration.

If you're there to watch chat and not the streamer you should be asking yourself why do you even bother watching the streamer in the first place. Why them and not anybody else? Would you watch anybody who happens to be live regardless? What criteria are you looking for that would make a stream worth watching over any other stream?

I am not and never said this but i am pretty active in most streamer or vtuber chats i do participate in and not with the chat itself but towards the streamer

livestreams are fun
>why them over others
they are more fun than others ive tried over time, in the last decade or so ive watched countless streamers and over past few years vtubers and have a good feel for what i seek
