>>56868367This is why I laugh at anyone blaming idol culture. What we have in vtubing is a new culture still evolving and absorbing input from a relatively new community. There are some elements from idol culture, but they don't fit exactly into this new dynamic along with the EN audience attempting to emulate what they see and that's why you have this kind of drama.
Are streams intended to be shared intimacy with viewers or strictly a business product? If some are or aren't, how can you tell? Before streaming itself became a business, streams with your idol were like a private time.
Is the OW stream like a fan event except with men sitting next to their idols (extremely abnormal), or it is more like a TV variety show where the girls are just guests and men are there, but in a strictly professional sense (perfectly normal)?
>chuubas that do GFE until they're popular enough that pandering to normies might be more profitableYes, this is what happens in the idol industry. Most girls see being an idol as a stepping stone. They build up some fame and networking connections while being an idol and not having a boyfriend.
Once they are ready to move on with their career or get a boyfriend, they graduate and amicably separate from their unicorn fans with a heartfelt teary sendoff.
This doesn't happen in vtubing because there is no further career to move into, such as acting or singing.
