I used to go out and hang out with people, but even in groups I wouldn't say or do much unless I'm really comfortable with the people around me. Once I loosen up it doesn't even feel like I'm an introvert. Around new people though, I absolutely am. Often times I usually try to ask questions about whatever they're talking about so I have that as a way to the conversation.
And regardless, I have to mentally prepare myself to socialize like "okay today we are going to talk to people, we're going to be around people" and when I come home, my social battery, so to speak, is completely drained until I recharge and psyche myself up to socialize again.
