I think in this case, her sub numbers work against her. She's twice the sub numbers but the rest of her stats are mid at best. Miko and Pekora and many other JPmems with half her subs absolutely wreck her in live viewers, time watched, time streamed and Superchats. It's really her own fault. She doesn't really try to expand her audience. She once had that Big Brain Games thing which was a fun thing to do but she never did it again or tried anything else.

Awhile back she said she was taking Japanese lessons with a tutor and well..absolutely nothing came out of it. If she even just made an attempt at connecting to her JP audience even if it was scuffed as heck it wouldn't matter, they'd find it endearing and her audience would actually grow. There are even JP members who attempt English only streams and do quite well. It's just so frustrating to see Gura being such an underachiever in a company of overachievers. I had high hopes for her but she's really just reverting back to her Senzawa days. She really could have been at the top of the Vtubing world and cemented her legacy as such but she'll be remembered as someone who got the shiniest of golden tickets and did jack squat with it.

I still watch her but yes, that move left a very sour taste in my mouth. She even had a collab with Ame for the first time in ages and afterwards said she was going to "take a break to let Advent shine" and she did the complete fucking opposite. I don't think she ever streamed that consistently and that long in her entire career.

The chumbuds even told her they were relieved she was back and streamed more like in her 2020 days and she agreed that she liked being back but of course that was a fucking lie, she just upped and disappeared again a week later. I'll give her the benefit of the doubt though. She does have anniversary and Splash party shit she had to do.

What is the point of "still has plenty of time" if she's the type that doesn't want to do anything with it? She's probably living off of royalties and desperate chumbuds who refuse to cancel their memberships and still rakes in more money in a month/week than most people will make in a year. Everything good that happened to her has made her complacent and lackadaisical.

If she had the drive and motivation of Pekora and just the Japanese language equivalent of Haachama, she would be unstoppable.
