You see this all over the place in the indie scene. Everyone's trying too goddamn hard and all the designs suck total dick because of it. Everyone's a heterochromia stricken cyber-turbodemon slime girl colorblob with various animal parts and triple F tits and it looks like shit every time, especially because it's almost always drawn by some failed tumblr artist or SEA from Fiverr working for $20.
If an artist tries to do too much, they're overcompensating. Pomu is a fairy with a green dress and a big ribbon. Pekora is a rabbit with a white dress and 2 big braids. A good artist can make something simple look appealing.
