>>57536084Often when a complex kanji consists of multiple parts that are themselves kanji, it's pronounced the same as one of those parts. Not super consistent and of course it's only true for the sound reading, not kunyomi. but useful starting point for guessing.
Sometimes you can tell the meaning from the sign too, types of insects generally have the radical for insect in them 蝉, 蚊, 蜂, 蟻. So if you see that, just start guessing insects. Same with fish.
