This is so true. The end result doesn't matter as much as the appearance of doing your best.
For example, if a person spends 6 hours doing something that took another person 1 hour, JP will assume that it must have been very thorough and that the extra 5 hours will somehow be worth it. Here in the west, we assume that the person who spent only 1 hour must simply have been more efficient. (Except in America, they also equate long hours with more work done.)
