There's a tiny minority of people who watch both EN and JP, there's no problem. For example, as EOP I have zero interest in these new girls.
I imagine JOPs feel mostly the same, and the few bilinguals in each camp are probably going to favor the other branch. (That's why they learned the language in the first place.)

That's a great point actually, but it was a bubble that had to be popped at some point anyway.
And I don't feel like gen 5 has any less EOP fans than the previous JP gens nowadays. (Botan and Nene in particular.)

Pretty sure Myth's breakthrough actually brought more eyes to gen 5. It also distracted antis who were all on into destroying the gen.
It was rough for the girls because they didn't feel like "senpai". They had a lot of issues at first, then EN starts right after and gets massive success. They felt like faillures for a while.
Don't think this will be the case for Advent. I'd be actually impressed if Regloss doesn't flop to begin with

This scenario isn’t even really the same. Gen 5 got fucked by EN myth debuting so close to them because the HoloEN debut had a bigger impact due to it being holo’s first EN members and something completely new for cover, so of course that would have way more anticipation and eyes on it. Regloss so far seems to just be another typical addition to JP, which we are all used to by now so i can’t imagine regloss hurting advent in any big way.

I dont think Gen 5 really got fucked by Myth debuting.
Cover PR at that time was at its lowest since the vod apocalypse because of the Aloe Graduation followed by the Hololive Taiwan yabs (i cant recall if the haachama thing happened before or after myth was announced but it was definitely close). If anything EN getting announced at that time was a good move as it took the heat off Hololive as a whole. And especially off Gen 5 since they’re the most closely linked to the drama.

And. now Gen 5 has all their members at 1M subs, their CCVs are all mid - high. They have decent supers. Lots of projects, their own gen lives, and the most recognizable Gen song in Blue Clapper. They had some of their thunder stolen at the start true. But by the end they did fine for themselves

Let's be honest, it was 90% luck. Nobody expected anything from it at that time. Not even Cover, considering the amateurish management (which ended up being a huge problem as time went on).

There's less reason to worry about a Nepolabo-Myth situation happening this time for a few reasons, but the biggest one that hasn't been mentioned yet is that the EN and JP fanbases are more seperated nowadays than they were in 2020. Myth was the first direct appeal to EOPs, so in those early days the there was a legitmate argument that foreign attention was quickly taken away from Gen 5. But as it stands today the two audiences have an esablished seperation with less overlap than before, especially after Coco's graduation took away the biggest bridge EOPs had to the JP branch.
