I don't speak Chinese, but I'm a vtuber and business owner. Having Chinese nationals as your primary customers sounds absolutely fucking unbearable. Even if I was a Chinese national myself, if I thought I could make it in the English world instead, I would.

If they are outside of China, and can speak a second language, then the market is probably larger for that other language than for whichever Chinese language they speak. So there is a market, it just isn't the optimal choice.

Anon, NijiEN has a ton of Chinese vtubers. Mandarin or Cantonese or whatever, there’s a fair amount of them in the branch. Hell, it’s basically NijiESL since the management is very lax with them doing additional language streams.

No, the reason is because the chinese diaspora minority in SEA is always disproportionately wealthy, and thus well educated, compared with the ethnically distinct native populace, akin the jewish situation in the west.
If the ID holos are mostly of chinese descent then that's because this demographic more often than not can afford to be sent to schools that will teach them proficient English, and Japanese.
