>>57826787Hololive's first four generations were pretty amorphous with no proper "cohesion" meme. Gamers had cohesion but that was Fubuki's nepohire extravaganza.
But then, in 2020, two things happen.
Gen 3 fully blooms, and with that, a concept of generation unity, everyone in the gen (bar flare) becomes a heavy hitter.
Gen 5 shows excellent group unity, with clearly defined roles, a good balance between cool gal and pon, mature and childish, and a four-men manzai dynamic that is a clip factory. But none of the characters are heavy hitters.
So cover is left with an ideal group to be in TV programs and mainstream media (gen 5) but that is not a breakout success. And a group that is a breakout success (gen 3) and is often being requested by the media, but that doesn't work that well as a group of five.
If they could put both together in the same vessel, they would have what in other idol groups was called a "kami" generation. The allure of releasing a group that unites both from the release date is great, it becomes Cover's ideal product.
So is born HoloX. Family dynamics of 5, unified and strong character appeal of 3. Surely this will work!
It doesn't work. Cover spends a lot in marketing, sends the quintet to all the programs and magazines, makes MVs, speeds up the 3D. And it just doesn't hit like they want to.
I mean, it is a strong generation, no doubt. Chloe does amazingly for the role she was picked, Koyori is a benefit, Lui is good too... but, the TV appearances, the main stream appeal, quickly dries the fuck up. The spots Gen 3 was occupying that Cover would love to have more talents filling (or replacing) are not filled (bar Rushia's, lol)
To boot, the dynamic falls flat, they can't truly replicate the gen 5 experiment they desired.
But cover still wants their mainstream group. They want their five girls to sit at a tv program or online event and give a unified interview like it happens in proper idol groups.
Regloss seems to be born from all people criticized about HoloX
>People complained about the chuuni? Exterminate it. >Mainstream programs didn't want hag and babaloli character types? exterminate them.>People look at Chloe and only see a male baiting e-girl? Let's make this group male friendly. And to make sure that for once they get a good group "feeling", and seeing that Gen 5's method was a lucky hit, they decided to straight up go for the uniforms, now a koyo vs lui fight is straight up suicide. These girls will be an eternal group like Gen5 even if Cover has to tie them up together by force.
