Before HPS was hyped a lot because everyone thought they were decent to good at the game, specially Ayame. Then Matsuri had a collab with Kawase and the expectations went higher, everyone was "holy shit Matsuri is being coached by Kawase she's going to destroy everybody". This probably got to Matsuri's head alongside the fact that she's gen 1 aka the one that glues the team together with her senior status.
Then the first red flag appeared, they almost never practiced as a whole together, at best you got Roboco and Matsuri with Ayame streaming something else or not streaming at all. It wasn't until a few days before the tournament where they played together
Then the second red flag appeared, they had no chemistry whatsoever, still a lot of fans wanted them to perform well.
The rest is a complete shitshow
>Roboco kept on having technical issues, making Matsuri and Ayame spent almost all games hiding and running>They had no other strategy>Matsuri ended up tilting, crying and demoralizing whatever attempt was to raise the morale of the team>Ended up in second to last place, only because the other team was memeing with controllers>At the end in the party games, Matsuri was pretty much left aloneThis whole thing destroyed her, not only her confidence as an apex player, but also as a gen 1 senpai, and ever since the game became an obsession for her, a desire to prove herself of not only as a good apex player, but also a reliable senpai.
That's why she streams apex so much, that's why she enters every tournament she can, she really wants a tournament run where she plays well, doesn't destroy her team's morale and place well on the rankings.
