It was jank even by the standards of the 1.0 line up, with a famous lizard face, but she also just stopped using it one day a bit after getting her new years costume. For a long time, Flare fought on details about her character here and there and also didn't have a 3D until holofes 1st. So it was never confirmed but there was overwhelming evidence of this.
Much later in her career, after she got her newer design, she revealed that she previously had a lot of personal grievances in the past about not being herself at hololive and playing a character that didn't suit her. Keeping in mind that updates usually just touch up the original designs with technology or match them to the current artist's ability, Flare was mostly unique in getting a total redesign. The truth is that a lot of the claims on what she does and doesn't like or is or isn't like aren't really accurate at all, she uses her elf ears often for example and only spammed the headphones when she first got them, but a lot of people do have good reason to extrapolate the fact that she almost certainly did hate her original form and publicly suffered a virtual dysphoria to the current version which does still bare a lot of resemblances despite a total change in direction and fashion
All the evidence occurs in the past and might not apply to current Flare at all but we never found out exactly what her real problems were and if they were totally solved or if she just accepted the compromise and made peace with it
