>>5802931Historically a Japanese woman's "job" would be a wife, mother, manager of family finances, planner of her and her husband's retirement, paying the family's taxes and occasionally doing part time work such as being a store clerk or school nurse. This was also the case for many American women.
Japanese men were expected to work in factories, offices, farms etc.
Feminism, mass mechanization and outsourcing as well as the non-retirement of the Showa generation has effectively priced many Heisei generation Japanese out of 'the market' for many life goals, such as starting a family before 30 or owning a house, which means Japanese women go unmarried.
In addition the end of the industrial society means increasingly, like the rest of the developed world, people exist in Service jobs. You're a programmer doing a SERVICE. You're a streamer doing a SERVICE. You're an uber driver doing a SERVICE.
All of these are 'real jobs' for the heisei and reiwa generations because the showa generation did not maintain the economy they grew up with and steadily dismantled it for their own gain- similar to how silent/boomer generation people in the USA dismantled the traditional economy leading to economic problems for gen x/y/z which endure to current day.
The economy has simply changed, so being a streamer is the 'realest' job you can have in the context of a society where a streamer is performing a service for you as well as simulating the social ties humans need to generally stay sane, creating essentially a 'club' for people starved for connections in which they can be 'fans' of pewdiepie or other streamers.
If you dislike this, you shouldn't have destroyed society.
