>>58155714I saw a different corpo where one of the members told a story, and this is all information that she shared publicly, about how, despite having skills that would make her an enticing hire, she sent in a bad application because she was busy and didn't have much time before the application deadline. So before she even received her rejection email, she panicked and sent an email to the CEO begging to give her another chance. Which would normally be a horrible idea and a good way to ensure you will never be hired by this company for the rest of your life, but for some reason, it actually worked out for her and she got in.
It made me realize these corpos must get very few genuinely viable applicants, that someone like this actually managed to be accepted after such a blunder. It might not even be that there aren't many people applying, but that among the applicants there are not many that actually have the skills that these companies are looking for, that would be a good fit for the company, etc. I can almost envision them, hesitantly about to pick someone mediocre, when suddenly they get this email about how actually I'm very skilled in this and this and that and my application didn't properly convey it, please let me try again and they're like, this arrogant motherfucker, but she happens to be exactly what we're looking for and we can't find anyone else who has these skills, so what the fuck, let's give her a try.
It just goes to show, if you actually have worthwhile skills, you may have less competition than you realize. Just make sure it actually comes through in the application so you don't have to take a huge risk like this one did, which 99% of the time would not only fail to pay off, but would in fact completely doom you.
