The advice for years has been recommended to move away from Unity
That they (and a shit ton of JP games) decided to ignore that is their own fault.
That said... I really don't think this change is gonna stand. It would effectively kill Unity, so unless that's the intention, I think the change will either be reverted fully or modified.

They probably would've adjusted bullet prices based on gun type with sniper being more expensive. I'm actually surprised nobody did the soft-lockout during the online pass era. Sure you can play Battlefield but you need to buy an online pass to use vehicles or the sniper class.

Nobody has enough money to survive this. It has ability to create expenses even when the game is not creating any income. To stop this you'd have to pull all copies from the market or prevent owners from clicking on installer.

As it's worded now, the install cost would persist even if Genshin closed their servers.

it depends, the problem is that it's not just about copy pasting or rewriting the code. when you work with an engine, you abstract away a lot of the complexity by using the engine's internal organization system. you would have to recreate all of your work in a new engine with its own organization system, which may not render things exactly like the previous engine did and may have random incompatibility problems because your game wasn't built with the new engine in mind.
