>>58778924> incel virgintoothless meaningless insults nowadays, and has nothing to do with the post
>The human race won't be around forever, we're speedrunning our demise within the next 200 yearsyou literally don't know this
in fact people have been talking about 'the end times' for thousands of years and it never happened
>>58778970>while contributing something to the society.this is contradictory to claiming you don't care about being remembered or your impact on the world
why do you care about what effect you have on society?
> I want to do something remarkable because I want to, because it's exciting and fun, not because I want to be rememberedthis is pure cope
the only thing that defines something as 'remarkable' is how memorable it is
I genuinely believe that the only reason why you and other anons shy away from this 'wanting to be remembered' thing so hard is literally just because in recent times humility and not wanting to seem egotistical have been championed for some reason (at least this was definitely the case in millenials' formative years) - you were indoctrinated with the idea that no one is truly special, that pursuing glory and fame are 'le bad' and you were made to be cynical, ironic and apathetic about everything
previous generations did not think like this at all and they genuinely believed in the heroic narrative of human history and personal glory/trying to achieve greatness
>being remembered =/= not having an effect on reality. I'm confused here, do you think that reality ceases to exist if someone doesn't remember it?if a tree falls in a forest with no one around, does it make a sound?
exactly
it doesn't fucking matter that it objectively makes a sound, if no one is there to observe it it's meangingless and may as well be silent
the universe only has any meaning because humans exist and observe it and remeber things and record them
it's not about 'reality ceasing to exist' it's that no one is there to give it meaning anymore
if you die and are utterly forgotten, your life has no meaning
>you made a scientific discovery that completely revolutionizes technology across multiple fields and raises living standards irreplaceably but your name is completely lost to historyit's not about the name, the fact that you had an effect and are remembered (even if no one knows who the exact person was) means your actions had value
both of your scenarios are better than some sadsack wagie who works a menial job has no offspring, never achieves anything and dies utterly forgotten, for example
anyone trying to argue that this is ok just because of 'muh hobbies' or 'I don't care about being remembered' is completely delusional and will die with a load of regrets on their deathbed
