>>603331What I'd tell myself is "they're entertainers," "it's an act," things like that to help keep grounded. And I think the fact you're just a number to these big ones helps a lot with that. You know you aren't going to stand out so your subconscious isn't exactly going to be thinking you have a chance.
With indies, they'll actually interact with you and start to notice if you're a regular. Additionally, it seems like there's less of a divide between the character and the real person beneath the avatar. Instead of throwing supas at meme dragon or spamming A at a cartoon shark you actally are in some respect talking to a woman. Not only that, but a woman that actually does like the same vidya and same weebshit you do.
In my case I wouldn't say I fell for koopa but it was more being in a bad mood at that time plus learning women that had all of these same interests/wants as me were out there throwing me into despair at how low the odds of finding someone like that are. I got over it but I'm generally in a good mood and able to interact with people irl. I don't doubt I could actually, unironically fall for an indie if I was worse off. Honestly I probably wouldn't've gotten into vtubers were it not for all this covid crap otherwise if that tells ya about things now compared to pre-covid.
