>>5982238I was basically just trying to extend my vocab in the same I had previously by watching infinite anime, but I started to realize that watching streams for vocab is far less effective than anime (or other TV shows) for a very specific reason: those things are always explicitly focused on the current audiovisual context.
For example: If you watch some TV show scenes about anime girls sitting around in a house, you're going to pick up basic home-related vocab like 家、部屋、椅子、机、宿題、友達、家族、etc pretty quickly through audiovisual repetition. But if you watch Kanata sitting around in her school, she's going to be talking about something utterly unrelated to the visual environment with no point of reference.
Because of that, I decided to give up on skipping kanji and start to use the grinders to learn Japanese properly and consistently.
