>>59087982Every streamer that uses the sm7b does so because it's the "Joe Rogan microphone" or because they saw a video talking about it. It IS a good microphone, don't get me wrong on that, but most streamers cannot get a good sound out of it and cannot set the gain properly on it for shit, much less use EQ to get a good sound for their own voice. It's either too muddy, too low, or too heavy on the bass. The usage of the goXLR is because it's practically plug-n-play and it's software based, but of course it's prone to being a buggy shit mess.
Vtubers that don't have to worry about background noise should stop using dynamic mics and use condenser mics instead for a clearer voice. Gura has a fucking Neumann mic and she sounds great even if all she did was plug it and set the gain. The SM7B has always been and always will be absolute overkill for people that just stream, even if they are in hololive. Ame has like a million mics but I think only a few of them really showcase all the nice frequencies of her voice, or maybe even just one. The shotgun mic was great on her, for example. Others, not so much. A lot of lost detail if you're an audio autist.
At some point, you get diminishing returns on audio gear as well. Your streams get compressed or generally fucked by either youtube or twitch so if you're good enough you can even make the infamous blue yeti mic sound good and not a single person in your audience will be able to tell what mic you're using.
You can, however, tell when someone just plugged in an sm7b because they sound muddy as fuck and every words sounds boomy, plus they might be very quiet since the microphone also requires a lot of gain to get some volume out of it. Audio interfaces like the goXLR can give you the gain you need but that doesn't automatically mean it will sound good.
If you never gave a shit or even noticed how Kiara or the others sound, then that's my point. It's not the gear, but how you use it. She may have bought all that shit because it's the "good" stuff streamers use but if she plugged in a blue yeti and added some filters to it you wouldn't notice or care.
