Whenever you feel a burp coming, for some reason your body sucks in air quickly and causes the hic. This has the side effect of opening your throat and lets out the burp without any noise. But it's never caused me any stomach issues.
I hope ame does seek some kind of diagnosis for her constant bad health. It kills her motivation to do anything.
