>>640450The definition is a lot looser these day but at it's most basic good ASMR is whatever gives you "tingles" or chills. Closest thing to describe would be the chills you get when listening to good music.
Different people will experience those tingles through different stimuli, that's why ASMRtists make all those different noises. Though not everyone experiences those feelings. Nowadays "ASMR" is more anything where the ASMRtist is making different noises or whispering or what have and whatever happens to help the listener/watcher get relaxed, sleepy, etc. Some will use ASMR for cooming purposes, just look at the people that listen to Choco and Mel.
Another aspect of good ASMR is it can feel intimate, the ASMRtist is speaking directly to you and in some ASMR it really can feel like they're right there with you. This is great for the socially-starved people that use the net, who are the primary consumers of ASMR content. So really, any good ASMR is the stuff that really hits you, so different people will have different ideas of what "good" is. For ex. Even in this thread you have people saying Patra's the best, others are saying Mary. Different strokes for different folks, you just have to listen to different ASMR and see what works for you.
