how many points you can potentially earn or lose
for instance in easy season you will only lose 20 points when in last place but in difficult season 50

last season was the first one of the new paradigm where rating gain was changed to almost entirely depend on placement rather than scoring kills and matchmaking would be based on hidden MMR instead of rank
neither of those worked very well in that first run, people were still running at fights like the old scoring format incentivized, which made it trivial to survive until top 10 at which point the match would be point positive, and matchmaking wasn't very tight
this season, players are much more used to it and the scoring was adjusted to needing to get to top 8 for point gain, and matchmaking is tight enough that matches are going to be relatively difficult for everyone not proleague-level good, and they'll stay hard for the entire ranked climb because, again, visible rank has very little impact on matchmaking

In the past it used to be that you could gain points from scoring kills and placement, and the scoring was lenient enough that as long as you knew how to use wasd and your mouse at the same time you'll gain points after a match, so your rank is less reflective of your skill and more reflective of how much time you spent in comp.
Recent changes to the system removed points from kills entirely and made it much more difficult to gain points from placements so it's far harder to climb to a rank your skill doesn't support

That's literally the reason why she attempted to touch pred in the first place because IT IS THE EASIEST SEASON, she said it herself, she only wanted to get it because it is one of her goals in her debut. Get mad if she actually tried to maintain it.
