People get mad at idols like Gura and Ayame for not streaming, but I don't get it. Do you realize merch *IS* the reason these companies still exist? Every media franchise, from Star Wars, to Pokemon to your favorite post-2010 AAA MTX-ridden game, exists *BECAUSE* whales spend inordinate amounts of cash on derived sales. Your favorite anime just got a second season? You can thank merch sales for that.

Whales keep this entire industry afloat, yet people have the gall to blame them for "decline" of a medium when they happen to be the primary patrons of that medium. Whales are subsidizing (your) free entertainment.

So why do people complain? The alternative is to get nothing.
