The vast majority of JP talents stream even when their health is declining. EN talents actively look for any reason to not stream. It’s the difference between loving your job and loving a paycheck.

EN has no market to grow in. Vtubers are inherently cringe outside of Japan. At this point just about any westerner who doesn't want to watch hololive isn't going to change their mind. That's why Gura and Mori - the two with the most JP fans - are the most successful. People will blame the talents for it, and yeah they weren't perfect, but I think overall they did well. EN could not have done anything to stop their decline without also sacrificing their image. the whole tempiss situation seemed like a failed attempt to get holoEN a way wider audience.

Yeah, this sums it up well. EN’s decline is due to a mix of the fad waning in the west and Cover trying to replicate Niji’s success in Luxiem and (to a degree) Noctyx, only to completely go 0 for 2 (StarsJP and Tempiss) and double down on top of that.

Vtubers are a niche in the EN streaming market. Vtubers increasingly are the JP streaming market. If you look at a list of the top streamers in Japan, it's dominated by vtubers.

I still remember when people found out who she was and how much early on she seemed to have special access to Yagoo for content. I really thought she had the potential to take off and make her mark. The problem is that Polka isn't consistent, except for Polden. But I don't think that Polden can attract new people. Streams are much better to attract new people, but you need to be consistent in the vtuber sphere to have a chance to build a bigger audience. However, as everyone says, Polka is the type that only can work either on 0 or 100 percent.

Outside of Ao being a colossal failure, DevIs branch will do better than EN every gen. Since this gives is a very good picture of the current market since they only debuted a month apart. Now we know why Yagoo didn't want to ACCELERATE the EN branch cus it just isn't worth it in comparison to the JP market. He spent all his time to make a side JP branch that makes more money than EN.

Even if you theoretically doubled Fuwamoco it wouldn't even really matter cus you can say the same thing about Ao cus she might as well not even exist. If you replaced Ao with a reasonably successful chuuba and doubled Fuwamoco it would still end up with DevIs on top. And that 50k from one person is exactly why the JP market is more profitable than EN, the ceiling is way higher for gachis over there.

JP streaming culture sort of grew together with vtubing as they started to go away from NND and to youtube and twitch. EN on the other hand had already had a healthy streaming culture for like a decade, so instead of becoming a central part of it vtubers just got their own little corner to sit in. It also doesn't help that EN corpo vtubers are behind on stuff like turning streams into shorter videos, which is something tons of normal streamers see most of their success in.

Of course 80K is good for any vtuber corpo, but we're comparing Regloss/DevIs to Advent/EN. This is one of those moments in time where you can compare the markets to see exactly where they are at cus they both debuted within a month of each other. The pecking order now goes JP-DevIs-EN as a priority/investment in the future for Yagoo.
And nowhere in my post did I state there was 5 Radens, there's only one. As for the lower floor that is purely on Ao as a character not DevIs or Regloss as a whole. Who is Ao pandering to? males? females? Why is her avatar and outfit so bad? Ao is clearly not the norm, if she was replaced by a more standard character that pandered to the regular male otaku audience she would do much better. If Ao was in the main JP branch she would still perform just as bad.

There's a few things to consider.
A: twitch is way more popular with streamers in the west than YouTube is, while that's slowly starting to change due to the terrible policies of twitch, YouTube is piss poor at recommending vtubers these days.

B: anime has only in recent years become something that's actually talked about in a positive light in the west and even then it's mainly with adult (18+) males and of course that demographic tends to work full time jobs.

C: Vtubers from Japanese corps like hololive get preferential treatment over their en counterparts with constant events and concerts and ads and appearances all over the place in Japan with next to no money spent advertising in the west. Unironically fans do a better job advertising than the company
