That's completely the opposite. Like half the regular viewers for many of the bigger fishes here are just tourists and you will see it because they go up a lot when there's member interactions and go considerably down when they're playing something off meta.
This same woman getting a ton a now was struggling to get 30k in metal gear or kingdom hearts

For the streamer it helps filling dead air
For the viewers it is just background white noise
Basically the game stream itself has no value, but how it affect the streamer and the viewers made it popular.
Honestly, solo minecraft are pretty much the same thing.
