>>59945679The "scariest" videogame will always be subjective. It depends entirely what you value in a game.
>Do you want a really atmospheric game?>Do you want a lot of monsters or just one constant threat?>Do you want the game to be slow or fast-paced?>Do you want it dark or bright? Realistic or surreal?>Do you want there to be jumpscares? (They can be both good or bad)A lot of people who "don't find horror games scary" begin horror games with the challenge of keeping their own nerves calm, immediately taking themselves out of any work the game is trying to set up for them.
This is unironically also why Chillas became so popular. On top of being the "standard" horror game, they're relatively short titles that can be finished in one stream. They're atmospheric games with one threat most of the time where you slowly progress through dark areas and sporadically get jumpscared, which is basically the gold-standard for horror.
Others are saying Darkwood, which is basically following the same concepts as Chillas titles except their jumpscares aren't immediately obvious and monsters are more common. Everyone will also agree Darkwood is scarier too, but for some it was just a boring experience.
