>>60149484What probably happened is that Omega and his cronies thought that as well as holos were doing with their songs, they would do way better if a 'professional' team was fully in charge of music conceptualization, planning and production. This would also mean addressing the biggest weakness of the holo model from a corporate perspective - the fact that so much revenue depends on and goes to one person.
They wanted more of that cut. So their team decided to invest more initially, went after the big guns like Tom Hack, Elements Garden and Arte Refact and got them to make songs for IryS.
The thing they didn't bank on is that it turns out that the talents ARE actually more important than just being pretty figureheads. Behind all the wheedling sycophantic comments, most people surprisingly aren't that stupid and won't just eat up music as 'the best thing ever' just because it appears to come from their oshi. They can sense whether it actually fits with her stream personality or not, and stuff that is jarring and disingenuous just turns them off. Even worse, the only people they could get to write her English songs were ESL Japanese.
It doesn't help that everyone can see that the most basic clerical shit is always going wrong because of their incompetence. IryS constantly having to say she doesn't know when X song will be dropping only for a preview to suddenly appear on her channel the next day, releasing whole albums on streaming services suddenly without MVs and in full kanji that her English listeners can't read or even type in, not even telling her what the English name of a song is supposed to be, so she translates it herself and then when it's released it's different.
Who knows why the communication was so bad, but likely they felt like they 'owned' the music production and release process and IryS was just the singer that didn't really need to be kept in the loop. In fact, it makes their narrative even better if it succeeds regardless - 'The talent's opinions, personality, or self-promotion isn't important. Producing good music with a good storyline is what's important.' Except they massively overestimated their own abilities and it flopped hard.
